I recently came across Ghanan artist Ibrahim Mahama who's founded a cultural centre in his birth place Tamale in Northern Ghana.
The Savannah Centre for Contemporary Art is a project space and research hub and Red Clay, his expanded Studio both located in Tamale
Nkrumah Volini which is housed in a defunct grain silo, is an institution for archeological memories and ecological ideas.
I love the idea to build an art history locally rather than to be oriented by a global scene.
